Contemporary Jewellery Designer
Pushkar, Rajasthan, India - where my jewellery making journey began
I have always been creative and studied Fine Art (Painting) at degree level, graduating with a 2:1 in 1992. It was while I was studying that I discovered a love of geometric forms, clean lines and colour.
I continued to paint and exhibit my work after leaving university, and then in 2002 I left the UK to travel with my partner. I have travelled extensively in India and Southeast Asia and it was in India where I began my jewellery making journey. I studied with a jeweller in Rajasthan over several years and continued to expand my knowledge and skills on my return to the UK, attending guided space sessions with Master Goldsmith Sonia Cheadle.
I have been permanently back in the UK since 2017 and currently share a studio space in Making Space, Havant.
The discoveries I made as a painter continue to inspire my jewellery designs. I like to challenge myself when making pieces and enjoy incorporating other materials where I can. I like to see the beauty in discarded objects and to make them into wearable art. I work mainly with recycled sterling silver and anodised aluminium, both hand dyed and upcycled elements.
